This project will increase the capacity of IWS to advocate for equitable outcomes for Red River Métis women, girls, and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals in social, economic, and political arenas. IWS is developing an Engagement, Consultation, and Advocacy Strategy that will guide and optimize IWS’ grassroots engagement and consultation initiatives. By strengthening our consultation mechanisms, the perspectives of IWS members can be incorporated in future project implementation and action plans.
To further strengthen IWS’ advocacy capacity, IWS will develop an IWS Research and Data Strategy to advance IWS’ capability to research and analyze existing government policies, programs, legislation, regulations, and services. This strategy will also inform IWS’ approach to data gathering and the use of socio-economic surveys. IWS encourages its members to participate in these surveys so that IWS can represent the views of all its members. By better understanding the needs of Red River Métis women, girls and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, IWS will be in a stronger position to influence government policies, programs, services, and legislation to ensure that it positively impact the socio-economic well-being of its members.
