IWS was a part of the development of the National Action Plan in response to the National Inquiry on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) and continues to be a part of the national MMIWG2S+ Advisory Committee.
IWS is a strong advocate for ‘Every Child Matters’. Our children are the future of the Red River Métis, and this philosophy is behind the development of IWS’s new program in collaboration with the MMF – “Pey Key Way Ta Hin/Bring Me Home.” A Family Support Worker hired to work within Métis communities with MMIWG2S+ survivors, and family members will give them a voice. Along with advertisements to ‘bring the lost home,’ the MMF will assist with rewards for any information. Our goal is to bring our lost ones home, returning them to their families.
